The Irvine Valley women's bsaketball team closed out its regular season with a 53-49 loss to Orange Coast in an Orange Empire Conference game at home on Friday night.
The Lasers' record went to 15-13 overall and 7-5 in conference play.
Orange Coast, ranked No. 3 in the state, improved to 23-5 overall and 10-2 in the OEC. Orange Coast had already wrapped up the conference title.
Irvine Valley stayed close to the Pirates for the whole contest.
IVC trailed, 30-23, at the half, but out-scored Orange Coast, 16-11, in the third quarter to trail by just two points going into the final period.
A three-pointer by Orange Coast's Hailey Estrada gave the Pirates a 50-41 lead with 5:45 to play and put the game away.
IVC moved within three points (52-49) on two free throws by freshman guard Samantha Barnett late in the contest, but the Lasers didn't get any closer.
Price finished with 17 points, nine rebounds and two steals to lead the Lasers.
Freshman guard Samantha Barnett finished with 14 points and four rebounds and sophomore point guard Haruka Mikuma added seven points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals for IVC.
Orange Coast was paced by Zoie Lamkin with 19 points and nine rebounds. Alyssa Dreesen contributed 10 points and 15 rebounds.
Irvine Valley now awaits the So. Cal. Regional Playoff pairings that will be released on Sunday.
