The Irvine Valley women's basketball team scored one of its largest wins in years Tuesday night.
The Lasers scored the first 29 points of the game, led, 40-1, at the half and went on to a 71-13 victory over Barstow.
The 58-point win was the largest for IVC since it defeated College of the Desert, 78-19 (59 points), to open the 2022-23 season on the road on Nov. 3, 2022.
Irvine Valley had three players score in double figures and had 21 assists on 28 made baskets.
Sophomore guard Moka Saiki led the way with 20 points. She made 8 of 15 shots from the field and 3 of 7 three-pointers.
Saiki added four assists and seven steals in the contest.
Freshman wing Samantha Barnett finished with 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and five steals and freshman forward Neryah Lokeni chipped in 10 points and four rebounds.
Sophomore point guard Haruka Mikuma and sophomore guard Sarah Loftis each contributed eight points for the Lasers. Mikuma also had five steals.
IVC finished with 31 steals as a team. Barstow ended with 51 turnovers.
Irvine Valley, which leveled its record at 4-4 overall, plays again on Thursday, taking on Mt. San Jacinto in the Eagle Invitational in Hemet on Friday at 6 p.m.
