It is a big game for the Irvine Valley women's basketball team as it hosts Santa Ana in an Orange Empire Conference game Friday night at 6 p.m.
The two teams are tied at 3-3 in the OEC and even along with Cypress in conference for third place.
Santa Ana enters Friday's action with a record of 16-6 overall and 3-3 in the Orange Empire Conference.
The Dons had a bye on Wednesday.
They last played at home against Orange Coast on Jan. 24, falling to the Pirates, 82-49. Larissa Robles finished with 17 points and five rebounds and Anaya Beard had 14 points and seven rebounds for Santa Ana.
On the season, Beard averages 15.5 points and 8.9 rebounds, Robles is averaging 14.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists, Kiki Graham is averaging 11.5 points and 4.0 rebounds and Mia Rivera averages 10.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game for Santa Ana.
Irvine Valley went on the road Wednesday and lost to No. 2 in the state Orange Coast, 74-41.
IVC's record went to 11-11 overall and 3-3 in conference.
Freshman guard Samantha Barnett and freshman forward Gianna DeForest led IVC with eight points each.
DeForest also had five rebounds and Barnett finished with seven rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots.
On the year for the Lasers, sophomore guard Moka Saiki is averaging 12.6 points and 2.5 assists per game, Barnett averages 11.6 points and 5.6 rebounds, freshman forward Alexis Price is averaging 8.9 points and 6.4 rebounds, and freshman forward Neryah Lokeni averages 8.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game for IVC.
The Lasers play again next Wednesday, hosting Cypress at 5 p.m. It is part of a doubleheader with the men's team, which hosts Riverside at 7 p.m.
The Irvine Valley women then go to Riverside next Friday for a 5 p.m. start.
