Women's basketball team wins easily over San Mateo

Irvine Valley's women's basketball team picked up its 10th win of the season with a 74-46 victory over San Mateo Sunday afternoon in the Sequoias crossover tournament.

The Lasers improved to 10-5 on the season.

With the win, Irvine Valley will play host Sequoias in the final game of the four-team event on Monday at 4 p.m.

Sequoias downed Chaffey in another game on Sunday.

In Irvine Valley's victory over San Mateo, sophomore guard Jasmine Kennon led the way with 18 points. She made 6 of 10 shots from the field and was 6 of 7 from the free throw line.

Kennon also had seven rebounds.

Sophomore guard Kiara King added 17 points, nine rebounds and three assists. King was 7 of 9 from the field and 3 of 3 from the free throw line.

Freshman forward Alexis Casillas contributed 13 points, 12 rebounds and three assists and freshman point guard Kendall Peterson ended with seven points, six assists and four steals in the win.
