Outfielder Grant Rockefeller off to Cal State Dominguez Hills

Irvine Valley sophomore baseball player Grant Rockefeller has signed with NCAA Division II Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Rockefeller, who played all three outfield spots over his two years with the Lasers, batted .270 with three doubles, 18 runs scored and 18 RBI for IVC during the 2018 season.

He played in 38 of 40 games for Irvine Valley this past season as the team finished with a record of 18-22 overall and 8-13 in the always tough Orange Empire Conference.

Rockefeller had 11 multi-hit games, including getting three hits in a game three times.

He went 2 for 3 with a run scored and two RBI in Irvine Valley's 4-0 win over Palomar at home on Feb. 2, was 2 for 4 with two walks and two RBI in a 10-5 victory for the Lasers at San Diego City on Feb. 22, he went 3 for 5 with a run scored and three RBI in a 8-7 loss at Orange Coast in conference on Apr. 17 and Rockefeller was 2 for 4 with three runs, a double, two walks and a stolen base in Irvine Valley's 20-9 win over OCC on Apr. 21.

Rockefeller was also a solid defensive outfielder for the Lasers, finishing with a .984 fielding percentage and three assists.

The former Ocean View High player is headed to a Cal State Dominguez Hills program that went 18-32 this past season.
