Sophomore infielder Colin Conroy headed to Towson State

Irvine Valley sophomore baseball player Colin Conroy has signed with NCAA Division I Towson State.

Conroy, a standout at second base and shortstop for the Lasers in 2018, played in 32 games and ended with a .314 batting average with 25 runs scored, 11 RBI and six stolen bases.

He was named second team all-Orange Empire Conference.

He was third on the team in batting average and second in runs. Conroy had a .462 on base percentage, which led the team. He also struck out just nine times on the year in 102 at bats with 22 walks.

Conroy had 10 multi-hit games for Irvine Valley, including going 3 for 4 with four runs scored and one RBI in Irvine Valley's 13-1 win over San Diego Mesa on Feb. 15.

Irvine Valley ended up with a record of 18-22 overall this season and was 8-13 in the always tough Orange Empire Conference.

During his freshman year for IVC in 2017 as the team's second baseman, Conroy recorded a .263 batting average with five doubles, eight RBI and 12 stolen bases.

The former Servite High player is headed to a Towson State program that finished 2018 with a record of 13-42 overall and was 6-18 in conference.
