Baseball team scores four in the 10th to outlast West LA

Irvine Valley's baseball team won its third straight game with a 4-0 victory in 10 innings at West Los Angeles on Friday afternoon.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 6-3 overall, while West LA fell to 1-7.

IVC got another great start on the mound from freshman Nick Janowicz.

He pitched six shutout innings and gave up just five hits and one walk with eight strikeouts. Janowicz lowered his ERA to 1.06 in 17 innings pitched so far on the year.

Freshman reliever Noah Bradford earned the win after IVC scored four runs in the top of the 10th inning.

Bradford pitched the final four innings and didn't give up a hit or a walk. Bradford struck out two batters. He now has a 0.59 ERA in 15.1 innings pitched.

An RBI single by sophomore second baseman Colin Conroy scored sophomore third baseman Brett Long for the first run in the top of the 10th inning.

Freshman center fielder Ben McConnell then scored from third on an error to put IVC up, 2-0.

Sophomore right fielder Zack Stack capped IVC's scoring in the 10th with a double. The hit brought in freshman shortstop Dustin Angus and Conroy.

Irvine Valley had eight hits on the day and spread them around with seven different players getting a hit.

Stack ended up going 1 for 3 with a double, two walks and two RBI.

Irvine Valley plays on the road again next Tuesday, traveling to San Diego Mesa for a 2 p.m. game.
