Women's beach team faces Mt. San Jacinto and Santa Barbara

The Irvine Valley women's beach volleyball team hosted its second match of the season and took on Mt. San Jacinto and Santa Barbara City on Saturday morning.

The Lasers played tough but fell to Mt. San Jacinto, 4-1, and then lost to Santa Barbara City, 5-0.

Mt. San Jacinto also topped SBCC, 4-1.

Irvine Valley's No. 1 pair of sophomores Avery Bennett and Audrey Fowler captured a win against Mt. San Jacinto, 21-19, 21-17.

IVC's second pair of sophomores Alya Mersin and Jayva Anderson also played tough, but fell, 23-21, 21-16, against Mt. San Jacinto.

Santa Barbara City swept all five matches against the Lasers.

Irvine Valley plays again on Feb. 26 when it hosts matches against Long Beach City and Hope International. Action gets underway at 10 a.m. with IVC against Long Beach City.
