Irvine Valley women's beach volleyball team split Orange Empire Conference matches at Riverside on Friday.
The Lasers defeated host Riverside, 4-1, but fell to Golden West, 4-1.
IVC's record went to 4-8 overall and 4-2 in the OEC.
Golden West ended up going 2-0 on the day, Irvine Valley was 1-1 and Riverside went 0-2.
Against Riverside, Irvine Valley got wins on the first, second, fourth and fifth courts.
Irvine Valley's top pair of sophomores Audrey Fowler and Avery Bennett won, 21-18, 12-21, 15-5.
IVC's No. 2 team of sophomores Alya Mersin and Jayva Anderson came out on top, 21-7, 20-22, 15-7.
On the fourth court, the pair of freshmen Valeria Leon and Jessica Lopez earned a 22-24, 21-13, 15-10 win.
And the No. 5 IVC pair of freshmen Nikki MacDonald and Ellyza Quiat captured its match, 21-16, 15-21, 15-10.
In the contest with Golden West, Fowler and Bennett earned another victory, beating the Rustlers' pair, 21-17, 21-14.
Golden West took the other four contests, but the pair of Mersin and Anderson did go three sets on the second court.
Irvine Valley plays again next Friday at the Newland courts in Huntington Beach against Cypress and Santa Ana in conference matches. Play gets under way at 10 a.m.
