Men's volleyball team wins in four at San Diego City

Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team stayed unbeaten in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play with a four-set win at San Diego City on Wednesday night.

The Lasers beat the Knights, 25-17, 25-20, 23-25, 25-12.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in conference.

Overall, the Lasers hit an impressive .364 as a team in the win at San Diego City.

Sophomore Cole Murray led all players with 18 kills and a .464 hitting percentage for IVC. He also added four aces.

Sophomore outside hitter Josh Schmidt finished with 11 kills and hit .333 in the match.

Sophomore opposite and setter Arek Halaj ended with seven kills, six digs and 28 assists. He split his time between setting and hitting from the right side.

Halaj also hit .333 on the night.

Freshman setter Jake Adams also shared time at the setting position and finished with 22 assists.

Sophomore middle blocker Kevin Dell led the team in blocks with four, including three solo stuffs.

Sophomore middle blocker Matt Mittry added six kills and hit .455 and sophomore libero Billy Crow finished with 14 digs for IVC.

Irvine Valley hosts Palomar on Friday at noon in another conference match. The contest was originally scheduled at 6 p.m. at IVC, but has been moved earlier as to not conflict with the Irvine Valley women's basketball home playoff game at 7 p.m.
