Men's soccer team wins third straight match

Irvine Valley's men's soccer team defeated Fullerton, 2-1, on a spectacular goal turned in by sophomore forward Omid Kazemi on Tuesday at home.

Kazemi dribbled four Fullerton defenders on his way to scoring the game-winner with just two minutes left in the match.

In beating the final defender, he deftly pulled the ball back from his right to left-foot and then sent a shot to the lower right corner that beat Fullerton's keeper.

It was Kazemi's first goal of the season. He already had two assists on the year.

The win was Irvine Valley's third straight and lifted its record to 3-5-8 overall and 3-3-3 in conference. The Lasers also moved past Fullerton and into fifth place in the conference standings.

All three goals on Tuesday came in the second half.

Sophomore forward Joe Rousseau scored Irvine Valley's other goal in the 54th minute. He intercepted a pass from Fullerton and then fired a shot from nearly 30 yards out that found the upper right corner.

It was Rousseau's third goal of the season and second-straight contest that he has hit the back of the net.

Fullerton tied the match in the 58th minute on a goal by Jose Montes De Oca. It was his 10th of the year.

Kazemi's goal was the difference, however, and has IVC on a roll heading into Friday's match at Orange Coast.

Fullerton's record slipped to 8-6-2 overall and 3-4-2 in conference.
