Irvine Valley's men's soccer team was ranked ninth in the initial California Community College Athletic Association So. Cal. Regional Poll of the 2013 season.
The Lasers are off to a 0-0-4 record to begin the season and won the consolation title of the Hartnell Tournament last weekend after edging Cerritos in penalty kicks.
IVC went to penalty kicks in all three matches after tying in regulation. It fell to Fresno City and came out on top against Rio Hondo and Cerritos.
Ranked ahead of IVC in the regional poll are Mt. SAC, LA Harbor, Golden West, Cerritos, Santa Ana, El Camino-Compton, San Bernardino Valley and Santiago Canyon.
Irvine Valley plays again next Tuesday, hosting Moorpark at 1 p.m.
