Irvine Valley star sophomore men's basketball player Luke Farrington has committed to NCAA Division II Hawai'i Hilo.
The 6-4 guard out of Mission Viejo High helped Irvine Valley to a 17-12 overall record, 8-8 mark in the conference for third place and a trip to the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs last season.
Farrington was named second team all-Orange Empire Conference and ranked second in the state in three-point shooting on the year.
One of the top shooting guards in the state, he averaged 9.1 points and 3.4 rebounds and shot 49.1 percent from the field and 49.6 percent from the three-point line.
Farrington started all 26 games that he played.
He sank 58 three-pointers on the year, including hitting a season-high 8 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points in Irvine Valley's 67-55 win over Santa Ana on Feb. 9.
In the 2022-23 season, Farrington started all 28 games and averaged 8.8 points per game. He scored in double figures in 11 games with a season-high 21 points at Orange Coast on Jan. 23, 2023.
In his career at IVC, Farrington knocked down 107 three-pointers (107 of 265) for 40.4 percent.
He is headed to a Vulcans' squad that had an overall record of 19-12 overall.
Hawai'i Hilo finished 12-8 in conference and made the semifinals of the Pac West Conference tourney.
