Irvine Valley's men's basketball team had its three-game win streak snapped with a tough 60-56 loss at Orange Coast in an Orange Empire Conference game on Friday night.
The defeat dropped Irvine Valley's record to 14-7 overall and 5-4 in conference, while OCC moved to 10-11 overeall and 4-5 in the OEC.
Orange Coast had lost five straight games.
Irvine Valley had four players score in double figures. Sophomore guard Luke Farrington finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists, sophomore guard Roman Swizek also had 13 points, freshman guard Amman Allan had 12 points, five rebounds and three assists and sophomore post player Jesse Stines added 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Pirates were led by Isaac Padilla with 16 points and nine rebounds and Cody Aquino, who finished with 15 points.
Irvine Valley led, 16-12 early on in the first half, but Orange Coast went on a run and out-scored the Lasers, 22-8, to end the half.
IVC trailed, 34-24, at the break.
Irvine Valley trailed, 38-28, early in the second half before using a 19-6 run to take a 47-44 advantae with 7:54 left in the game.
It was back and forth from there.
Orange Coast took a 54-52 lead on a three-pointer with 2:48 remaining.
IVC pulled within 58-56 with nine seconds left, but OCC's Timothy Bahadoor went 4 of 4 from the free throw line to close out the win for the Pirates.
Irvine Valley shot 53.5 percent (23 of 42) from the field as a team, but commited 17 turnovers and the Orange Coast bench out-scored Irvine Valley, 31-17.
IVC plays again next Friday at Saddleback in a conference game at 5 p.m.
