Irvine Valley sophomore men's basketball players Andrew Bastien and Chris Salas were recently named first team all-Orange Empire Conference.
It is the first all-conference honor for each player.
Irvine Valley sophomore guards Jimmy Golden and Ronnie Harris were each selected to the second team for the Lasers.
Bastien, a 6-9 center, averaged 8.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. He led the conference in blocked shots and ranked third in the conference in rebounding.
He also shot 53.6 percent, which was third-best in conference.
Bastien scored in double figures in nine games this past season with a season-high of 19 points in Irvine Valley's 72-64 overtime win over College of the Canyons to win the IVC Classic title last November. He had a double-double in that game with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
He also recorded double-doubles against Cypress (11 points and 11 rebounds) on Dec. 13 and against Santa Ana (12 points and 12 rebounds) on Feb. 18.
Salas, a 6-4 guard, averaged 9.5 points and 2.1 rebounds for the Lasers this season. He ended up leading Irvine Valley in points per game.
Salas also shot 37.4 percent (34 of 91) from three-point range. He was second on the team in three-pointers made.
Salas scored in double figures in 12 games and topped 20 points twice. He finished the season with four straight games with at least 10 points. Salas had a season-high 21 points in Irvine Valley's win at Orange Coast on Jan. 21.
He made 5 of 6 three-pointers in a 20-point performance in a loss at then No. 1 Mt. San Antonio on Nov. 25.
Golden, a 6-4 sophomore guard, averaged 9.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game for the Lasers. He led the team with a 37.8 three-point field goal percentage and also in three-pointers made with 48.
Golden scored in double figures in 15 games. He made 5 of 7 three-pointers and finished with 19 points in a loss to Chaffey on Dec. 18.
Golden started 55 of 56 games for Irvine Valley the past two seasons.
Harris, a 6-3 guard, was the first player off the bench for IVC the last two seasons, sharing point guard duties with Jalen Hall.
He averaged 5.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists this past season. Harris scored in double figures in five games with a high of 14 points in a 59-58 win over Orange Coast on Jan. 30 at home. In that game, Harris was 5 for 5 from the field, 2 of 2 from three-point range and 2 of 2 from the free throw line.
Harris also recorded at least five assists in seven contests for IVC.
The Lasers finished the season with a record of 16-11 overall and 9-3 in the Orange Empire Conference. IVC finished second in the conference standings.
Irvine Valley won its final four games of the regular season, but wasn't chosen as one of the 20 teams to make the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
