Faicchio named player of the week by CCBCA after hot start

Irvine Valley sophomore third baseman Dante Faicchio was named the first Southern California Player of the week by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association.

For the first week of the season (games Jan. 28 – Feb. 1), Faicchio batted .643 (9 of 14) with three doubles, one home run and nine RBI.

He had an on base average of .667 and also added two stolen bases.

In Irvine Valley's opening-season 11-6 win at San Diego Mesa, the former Laguna Beach High standout went 2 for 5 with a double and two RBI.

He followed that up by going 3 for 4 with a double and four RBI in a 10-7 loss to San Diego Mesa at home.

And in IVC's 12-4 loss at Chaffey on Feb. 1, Faicchio went 4 for 4 with a double, home run, three RBI and two runs scored.
