In the playoff elimination contest at Chaffey, the game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when IVC scored eight runs.
Espinosa helped load the bases with a single. Sophomore Tyler Wagner then cleared the bases with a three-run double to put IVC in front.
Espinosa red-shirted during the 2016 season, but also played a key role for the Lasers in a special 2015 campaign.
The team went 23-18 overall and made the Super Regional round of the So. Cal. Playoffs.
Irvine Valley won four of its final six games to end the regular season and make the Southern California Regional Playoffs and then won an elimination game and defeated Oxnard in a regional series.
Espinosa played in 33 games in 2015 and hit .261 with 13 RBI.
He went 3 for 4 with a run scored and one RBI in an Irvine Valley 4-0 over Orange Coast that season.
Espinosa, who prepped at Yorba Linda High before coming to IVC, is heading to a Colorado State-Pueblo team that had a record of 23-26 last season and went 17-16 in conference.
