Moorpark hands women's volleyball team first loss of season

After sweeping its first two opponents of the season, the Irvine Valley women's volleyball team dropped its first match of 2022.

The Lasers went on the road in an afternoon match on Friday and fell at Moorpark, 22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22.

Irvine Valley's record went to 2-1 on the season.

Moorpark improved to 2-0 overall. Moorpark defeated El Camino in four sets in its first match last week.

On Friday, the Lasers were led by freshman outside hitter Tessa Marocco with 19 kills. Sophomore opposite Jayli Nealy added 13 kills and sophomore middle blocker Kendall Fraser had six kills.

Sophomore Maddie Harkey and freshman Mia Bertolone shared setting duties with Harkey finishing with 23 assists and Bertolone contributing 21 assists.

Freshman Hannah Ledesma led IVC with 15 digs.

Irvine Valley plays again next Wednesday at home, taking on Southwestern at 6 p.m.
