Women's volleyball team sweeps again, beats Santiago Canyon

Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team earned its 10th straight win and seventh straight sweep of the season with a 25-13, 25-15, 25-9 win over Santiago Canyon in an Orange Empire Conference match on the road last Friday.

Irvine Valley's record went to 10-0 overall and 3-0 in conference.

The Lasers are ranked No. 2 in the state.

Irvine Valley received nine kills each from three players.

Freshman middle blocker Helen Reynolds had nine kills, hit .692 and contributed six blocks, sophomore outside hitter Alaina Gendale had nine kills and hit .444 with five digs and sophomore middle blocker Alma Entesari had nine kills and hit .571 for the Lasers.

Sophomore libero Anna Unke added 11 digs, sophomore outside hitter Lea Kruse had five kills and 10 digs and sophomore setter Truth Hafey finished with 33 assists for the Lasers.

Irvine Valley hit .368 as a team on the night and limited Santiago Canyon to  -.038.

IVC has a bye on Wednesday and plays again next Friday at Riverside in a conference match at 6 p.m.
