Soccer player Payton Purcell headed to Missouri Valley

Former Irvine Valley women's soccer player Payton Purcell recently signed with Missouri Valley College.

Missouri Valley College is an NAIA school in Marshall, Mo.

Purcell was a two-year player and starter for the Lasers in 2015 and 2016.

The center midfielder scored two goals during the 2016 season for IVC. She had the team's lone goal in a 1-1 tie with Moorpark on Aug. 30 and scored a goal in the team's 3-0 Orange Empire Conference victory over Norco on Nov. 10.

She helped the team finish with a record of 7-8-6 overall and 5-7-4 in conference.

During the 2015 season, Purcell played and started in every game and had one goal and one assist on the year.

Purcell will be one of five former Lasers at Missouri Valley. Rosa Soto-Aleman and Evelyn Lucatero signed with the Vikings this past spring and Marissa Perez and Herminia Verduzco signed with the school after the 2015 IVC season.
