Women's soccer team goes on the road, ties Moorpark

Irvine Valley's women's soccer team went on the road for the first time this season on Tuesday.

The Lasers took on Moorpark, which was the defending Western State Conference North Division champion.

Irvine Valley came away with a 1-1 tie and almost earned a victory.

Moorpark tied the match with just five minutes left, getting a goal from Taylor Biehl in the 85th minute.

Irvine Valley took a 1-0 lead late in the first half.

Sophomore midfielder Payton Purcell scored in the 45th minute on a free kick.

It was her first goal of the season.

Irvine Valley finished with nine shots in the contest.

Sophomore keeper Yesenia Pulido ended with seven saves for the Lasers.

The tie was Irvine Valley's second in a row. IVC's record moved to 0-1-2 on the young season.

The Lasers play again on Friday, traveling to San Diego City for a nonconference match at 3 p.m.
