Irvine Valley's women's basketball team will try and keep a hold of first place in the Orange Empire Conference when it hosts Riverside on Wednesday night at home.
Irvine Valley has a record of 6-0 and is in first place in the conference, while the Tigers sit just a game back. Riverside is tied for second with Cypress at 5-1.
Riverside is 14-6 overall and 5-1 in conference. The Tigers have won nine of their last 10 games.
RCC defeated Fullerton, 89-78, at home last Friday night.
Kimari Hollis ended with 23 points on 11 of 14 shooting. She also had three assists and three steals.
Dejah Wright finished with 20 points, including making 5 of 9 three-pointers and Joana Adams added with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
On the season, Wright leads the way, averaging 19.2 points per game. That ranks first in the conference.
Hollis is averaging 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists, Adams averages 14.5 points and 8.1 rebounds, Dayna Dewitt is averaging 11.4 points and 7.2 rebounds and Darricka Hewitt averages 8.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
Irvine Valley has a record of 17-3 overall. The Lasers are ranked No. 8 in the state in the CCCSIA poll and third in So. Cal. in the CCCWBCA poll.
IVC picked up its eighth straight win of the year last Friday with a 100-49 victory at Orange Coast.
It was also Irvine Valley's second time scoring 100 points in a game this season and fifth time it has won a contest by 40 points or more on the year.
Irvine Valley led, 30-13, after the first quarter and, 52-21, at halftime.
IVC shot 54.1 percent (40 of 74) from the field as a team for the game and 44.8 percent (13 of 29) from the three-point line.
The Lasers finished with 24 assists and out-rebounded Orange Coast, 54-30.
Irvine Valley had six players score in double figures, led by sophomore forward Kasey Smit with 26 points. She added eight rebounds and four assists.
Freshman guard Lexi Vail had 15 points, 10 assists and three steals, freshman guard Cydnie Danan added 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists, sophomore guard Mary Dishoian had 12 points and 14 rebounds, freshman guard Bryanna Espiritu finished with 12 points and freshman guard Jessica Quirarte contributed 10 points for the Lasers.
On the season, Smit averages 16.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.4 steals and 2.0 blocks per game. Sophomore forward Kiara Warren averages 10.8 points and 6.0 rebounds, Vail averages 10.4 points and 3.9 assists, sophomore guard Elizabeth Garcia is averaging 9.5 points and 3.6 assists and Danan averages 8.3 points and 3.4 assists for IVC.
Irvine Valley plays at Saddleback on Friday at 5 p.m.
