Women's basketball player Mary Dishoian headed to La Verne

Irvine Valley sophomore guard Mary Dishoian is headed to play at the University of La Verne in the fall.

La Verne is a NCAA Division III school.

Dishoian was a two-year player and started a number of games for the Lasers.

A 5-8 guard, Dishoian helped IVC to a record of 26-5 overall this past season. IVC won a share of the Orange Empire Conference and made the program's second ever appearance in the CCCAA State Championship tournament.

The team ended up ranked No. 8 in the final CCCSIA Top 20 State Poll of the year.

Dishoian started nine games and averaged 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game this past season. And she shot 55.8 percent from the field on the year.

She scored in double figures in seven contests and topped 20 points twice, including scoring an IVC career-best 25 points in Irvine Valley's 98-33 victory over Copper Mountain at home on Feb. 2.

She had a high of 14 rebounds in Irvine Valley's 100-49 win at Orange Coast on Jan. 19.

Dishoian also started nine games for the Lasers during the 2017-18 season and averaged 3.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

The former Marina High player is headed to a La Verne squad that finished with a record of 5-20 overall last season.
