Women's basketball player Kiara Warren signs with Cal Maritime

Irvine Valley sophomore forward Kiara Warren has signed with Cal State Maritime Academy.

Cal Maritime competes in the NAIA and is located in Vallejo in Northern California.

Warren was a two-year player and starter for the Lasers.

She helped IVC to a record of 26-5 overall this past season. IVC won a share of the Orange Empire Conference and made the program's second ever appearance in the CCCAA State Championship tournament.

The team ended up ranked No. 8 in the final CCCSIA Top 20 State Poll of the year.

Warren was named second team all-conference after averaging 10.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game through the end of the regular season.

She played in 30 games and averaged 9.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game, while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor overall this past year.

Warren scored in double figures in 14 games with season highs of 20 points in wins over both Moorpark (57-44) and Copper Mountain (115-29).

And she recorded double-doubles (points and rebounds) against Moorpark and Orange Coast on the year.

Warren, who came to IVC from University High in Irvine, averaged 8.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game during her freshman year for the Lasers in the 2016-17 season.

She is headed to a Cal Maritime team that finished the 2017-18 campaign with a record of 6-23 overall.
