Irvine Valley's baseball team earned its second-straight win over San Diego Mesa, beating the Olympians, 8-5, on Thursday at home.
The Lasers defeated Mesa, 10-9, on the road Tuesday.
Thursday's victory improved Irvine Valley's record to 6-4 overall.
IVC got more big games at the plate from freshman third baseman Kevin James, freshman center fielder Shane Stafford and sophomore catcher Connor Tallakson.
James hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to put the Lasers in the lead.
He ended up going 2 for 2 with two runs scored, three walks and three RBI on the day.
After Mesa tied the game at 2 in the top of the second inning, James had an RBI single to keep the Lasers in the lead for good.
Stafford and freshman left fielder Drew Porter each had RBI hits in the bottom of the fourth to push IVC's lead to 5-2.
And a run-scoring double by sophomore right fielder Noah Madole in the bottom of the fifth inning gave Irvine Valley a 6-2 advantage.
Mesa pulled within 6-5 after pushing across a run in the top of the sixth and two more in the top of the eighth inning.
But Irvine Valley put the game away in the bottom of the eighth inning with a clutch, two-run single by Tallakson through the left side of the infield.
Tallakson ended up 2 for 5 at the plate with two RBI.
And Stafford went 2 for 3 with four runs, a walk and one RBI.
Sophomore right-hander Austin Chapman started on the mound and went seven innings. He gave up three runs on eight hits with zero walks and seven strikeouts.
Sophomore reliever Ryan Barlow made his first appearance of the season and closed out things in the ninth inning. He gave up one hit and struck out a batter to earn the save.
For Mesa, Andrew Guana went 3 for 5 with one RBI from the lead-off spot.
Irvine Valley plays again on Saturday, hosting College of the Desert at 12 p.m.
