Baseball team's rally comes up short at Mt. San Jacinto

Irvine Valley's baseball team rallied in the top of the ninth inning with five runs, but it wasn't enough in a 7-6 defeat to Mt. San Jacinto on the road Tuesday.

The loss dropped IVC's record to 4-2 overall, while Mt. San Jacinto improved to 5-1 overall.

The Lasers trailed, 7-1, heading into the top of the ninth inning, but scored five runs to make things interesting.

With one out, sophomore right fielder Noah Madole hit an RBI single. Sophomore pinch hitter Adrian Reveles followed with an RBI single to make it a 7-3 game.

After another out, sophomore shortstop Nick Madole was hit by a pitch to load the bases and freshman third baseman Kevin James was hit by a pitch to bring in a run and get IVC within three.

Freshman Blake Beckley stepped to the plate for IVC and knocked in a two-run single to left field to get IVC within 7-6.

But Mt. San Jacinto reliever Trysten Eddy sealed the win with a strikeout.

Irvine Valley finished with eight hits in the game.

Noah Madole went 2 for 4 with two runs and one RBI to lead the way.

Sophomore righty Sammy Murphy started on the mound for IVC and went five innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
