Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team is finding its groove at the right time.
The Lasers won their fourth straight match, sweeping at Orange Coast, 25-16, 25-19, 25-15, in an Orange Empire Conference match on Wednesday night.
With the win and a little help, Irvine Valley moved into a tie for third place in the conference standings.
IVC improved its record to 8-4 overall and 6-3 in conference.
The Lasers are now in a three-way tie for third with Golden West and Riverside.
Cypress leads the conference at 9-0 and Saddleback is in second at 7-2.
The Lasers still play at Cypress and Saddleback and have home matches against Riverside and Golden West in the coming weeks.
Irvine Valley hit .312 on the night at Orange Coast, but blocking was the key in the win.
IVC had three solo blocks and 20 block assists on the night. Freshman middle blocker Kylie Miller was the star, finishing with the three solo blocks and four assists. She also added five kills.
Freshman outside hitter Taira Ka'awaloa ended with a team high 11 kills with no errors and hit .458 on the night.
Sophomore outside hitter Lucee Fitzgerald had seven kids and a team-best 11 digs, freshman outside hitter Hannah Holder added six kills and hit .357 and sophomore middle blocker Hailey Riden chipped in five kills.
Sophomore libero Taylor Askins contributed 10 digs for the Lasers. Sophomore setter Alissa Blevins had 16 assists and three digs and freshman setter Savanah Schroeder ended with 15 assists and three digs.
Irvine Valley plays again at home on Friday, hosting Santiago Canyon in a conference match.
