Women's volleyball team wins third straight, tops Santa Ana

Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team won its third straight match, beating Santa Ana in four sets on Wednesday night at home.

The Lasers came out on top, 25-17, 25-19, 19-25, 25-18 in the Orange Empire Conference contest.

"We played solid again," IVC coach Nate Ngo said. "The 6-2 (rotation) is really working for us. If we could have minimized a few errors, we could have won in three. But I am happy with the way things are headed."

Irvine Valley improved its record to 7-4 overall and 5-3 in conference. The Lasers are just a half match out of third place in the conference standings.

Freshman outside hitter Taira Ka'awaloa led IVC on Wednesday.

She finished with 18.0 points - the highest total for an IVC player in a match this season.
