The Irvine Valley women's tennis team's record slipped to 1-2 overall after a loss to one of the best teams in Southern California
Irvine Valley battled, but lost to Cerritos, 7-2, on Thursday on the road.
Cerritos, which is ranked No. 2 in the ITA Southern California rankings, improved its record to 3-0 overall.
IVC picked up a pair of wins from freshman Sarah Mae Garcia.
Garcia defeated Taylor Heath, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 1 singles position.
She then teamed with freshman Samantha Schwarz to beat heath and Anastasia Khomyachenko, 8-4.
Irvine Valley will be back in action next Tuesday when it hosts another top team, Glendale, at 2 p.m.
