Irvine Valley women's freshman golf player Katie Stribling is off to a hot start to the 2018 season.

After winning the Desert Classic tournament last weekend by six strokes, Stribling was impressive again in the opening Orange Empire Conference contest of the year on Wednesday.

In a match hosted by Fullerton College at LA Royal Vista Golf Club in Walnut, Stribling shot a round of 1 under par 70 to take medalist honors.

She was the only player on the day to shoot par or below and won the event going away by five strokes.

Irvine Valley freshman Emily Crow improved from the tournament last week and shot 95 for the Lasers on Wednesday.

The Lasers play again on Sept. 19 in a match hosted by Orange Coast at Mesa Linda in Costa Mesa.
