Volleyball player Kelsey Yogi headed to Concordia University

Irvine Valley men's volleyball player Kesley Yogi has committed to play at Concordia University in Irvine next season.

Concordia became a part of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and an NCAA Division I competitor with men's volleyball for the 2018 season. The Eagles went 16-15 overall and were 5-7 in conference in 2018.

Yogi, a freshman libero, starred in his one season for the Lasers. He was picked second team all-Orange Empire Conference and helped IVC reach the CCCAA State Championship tournament.

Irvine Valley ended with a record of 16-6 overall and was ranked No. 4 in the final state coaches poll.

Yogi ranked first in the state in total digs with 239 and fifth in digs per set at 2.95.

He had 14 matches on the season with at least 10 digs and four matches with at least 15 digs, including a season-high 18 digs in Irvine Valley's four-set win over Golden West at home on Mar. 21.

Yogi, originally out of Punahou High in Hawaii, also finished with 13 aces on the season, which was second-best on the Irvine Valley squad.
