Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team won its fourth straight match and improved its record to 4-1 overall with a four-set win at El Camino on Wednesday night.

The Lasers, ranked third in the state, dropped the first set, but then stormed back to a 23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-15 victory over the No. 7 Warriors.

Sophomore outside hitter Patrick Furlong led the way with 18 kills, six digs and three blocks. He hit .400 for the match.
Sophomore middle blocker Matt August had 13 kills, eight blocks, four digs and hit .545.

Freshman outside hitter Sean Carroll added 10 kills and six digs, freshman libero Kelsey Yogi had 14 digs and sophomore setter Austin McBain ended the night with 42 assists, four digs and four blocks.

IVC avenged a loss to El Camino, who knocked them out of the postseason in the first round at Irvine Valley a year ago.

El Camino came out fast the first set and held on for the win and then was up, 7-3, in the second set.

But IVC coach Tom Pestolesi called a timeout and then the Lasers went on an 8-0 run and never looked back.

August ended the second set with an ace to tie things up.

IVC went on a 8-0 run early in the third set to take an 11-8 advantage and were later up, 17-9.

Sophomore outside hitter Brennan To had a kill to get IVC to set point at 24-16 in the third. And a service error by El Camino ended the set and gave IVC a 2-1 lead.

A kill by Furlong put Irvine Valley ahead, 13-8, in the fourth set and a kill by August made it 17-12.

Two straight hitting errors by El Camino put the Lasers up, 23-15, and IVC closed things out shortly after.

Irvine Valley plays again next Friday night at home, hosting Palomar at 6 p.m.
