Men's volleyball team sweeps Palomar to snap two-game skid

Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team snapped its first two-match losing streak of the season with an easy win over Palomar in a nonconference match on Friday at home.

The Lasers, ranked No. 3 in the state, beat Palomar, 25-13, 25-14, 25-14.

IVC was coming off tough, close losses to second-ranked Orange Coast and No. 7 Fullerton.

Irvine Valley lost, 20-18, in the fifth set to Fullerton on Wednesday.

With Friday's win, Irvine Valley improved its record to 12-4 overall.

IVC got 17 kills from sophomore outside hitter Brennan To, seven kills and five digs from freshman outside hitter Trent Williams and six kills and eight block assists from sophomore outside hitter Patrick Furlong. Six different players recorded at least one kill for IVC.

Freshman middle blocker Jonah Montes contributed nine block assists, freshman libero Kelsey Yogi had five digs and sophomore setter Austin McBain ended with 27 assists and three blocks.

Irvine Valley gets back to conference action next Wednesday when it hosts Santiago Canyon at 6 p.m.
