Tennis player Inaki Braun Simo headed to South Florida

Irvine Valley standout freshman men's tennis player Inaki Braun Simo is off to NCAA Division I University of South Florida.

He was one of the top four players on a stacked IVC team in 2022.

The Lasers finished with a record of 11-4 overall this past spring.

Two of the losses were to four-year schools and the other two came to eventual California Community College Athletic Association state champion College of the Desert.

IVC did win the Orange Empire Conference title with a record of 8-0 and reached the semifinals of the CCCAA So. Cal. regional playoffs.

Braun Simo, from France, shined for the Lasers all year long.

Braun Simo qualified for the CCAA state event through the OEC tourney in both singles and doubles and made the state tournament semifinals in doubles with freshman teammate Pierre Vandegaer.

He is headed to a South Florida team that had a record of 14-11 overall and made tne NCAA First Round of the playoffs.
