Irvine Valley's men's soccer team continued its tough early schedule with a match against Fresno City on Sunday to wrap up the Hartnell Tournament.
The Lasers opened the scoring and later took a 2-1 lead midway through the second half. But Fresno City scored the final three goals of the contest to earn a 4-2 victory.
Irvine Valley's record slipped to 1-2-0 overall. The Lasers fell to El Camino, 3-0, last week at home in the opener and then defeated Hartnell, 3-0, to start the tournament on Friday.
The Lasers started the scoring in the 34th minute off of a goal by sophomore forward Ivan Lopez. Sophomore defender Anthony Ocampo provided the assist.
IVC took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Fresno tied the game at 1-1 on a goal by Bryan Lopez in the 58th minute.
Irvine Valley answered with a goal by freshman Jamie Eijpenn off of an assist by Lopez in the 64th minute.
IVC nearly took a two-lead, but had a goal disallowed.
Fresno City then tied the game at 2-2 in the 77th minute and the took the lead for good on a goal by Kobe Iracheta.
The Rams closed out their scoring in the 90th minute on another goal by Lopez.
Irvine Valley freshman keeper Josh Simonton finished with four saves in the contest.
The Lasers play again next Friday in a match at Southwestern at 3 p.m.
