It starts with a key member of the Irvine Valley pitching staff the last two seasons.

Sophomore pitcher Chad Burchit has signed with NCAA Division II Chico State.

The right-handed Burchit made 17 appearances this past season and started four games. He went 2-2 with a 4.35 ERA. Burchit threw 41.1 innings and had nine strikeouts.

He pitched four scoreless innings against Long Beach City early in the year and then pitched 4.1 shutout innings in Irvine Valley's 2-1 win over Palomar.
