Baseball team scores season-high 19 runs in win at Harbor

Irvine Valley's baseball team pounded out a season-best 18 hits on its way to a 19-7 nonconference win over Los Angeles Harbor on the road Tuesday afternoon.

The 19 runs was also a season-high for the Lasers.

IVC won its second straight game and improved their record to 20-15-1 overall and LA Harbor went to 12-22-1 overall.

Irvine Valley hosts Harbor on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in its last game of the week.

Harbor scored early with two runs in the bottom of the first inning, but it was all IVC after that.

The Lasers tied the score with two runs in the top of the second inning, added a run in the top of the third to take a 3-2 lead and then blew the game open with eight runs in the top of the fifth inning to go up, 11-2.

Freshman first baseman Pu'ukani De Sa hit his first home run as a Laser.

Freshman shortstop Robert Haw went 2 for 6 with two runs scored and four RBI, freshman right fielder Joey Lapolla went 3 for 6 with three runs and two RBI, freshman left fielder Kyle Dobson had two RBI, De Sa went 3 for 4 with a walk, three runs, a home run and two RBI.

Sophomore third baseman David Rojas had two hits and three RBI and freshman right fielder Dane Nakatsuka went 2 for 2 with two RBI for the Lasers.

Irvine Valley sophomore pitcher Matt Wong went six innings on the mound to pick up the win. He gave up three runs on seven hits and two strikeouts.

Freshmen Adam Auriemma, Dane Little and David Kotin each pitched an inning to finish the game.
