Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team swept Santiago Canyon Friday night, 25-7, 25-11, 25-14, in an Orange Empire Conference match at home.
The Lasers can be OEC-Conference co-champions with a victory over Riverside next Tuesday night at home. Irvine Valley takes on the Tigers at 6 p.m.
IVC, ranked eighth in the state, improved its record to 18-4 overall and 12-3 in the OEC with the win on Friday. Santiago Canyon's record went to 1-16 overall and 1-14 in conference.
The Lasers led from start to finish in each and every set.
IVC was led by sophomore opposite Ava Guenther with 11 kills. She also had a hitting percentage of .421 in the contest.
Sophomore middle blocker Natalia Brandlin finished with a solid night, ending with eight kills, five blocks and she hit. 500.
Irvine Valley sophmore outside hitter Olivia Ortega contributed with seven kills, seven digs and hit .500 and sophomore outside hitter Tessa Maocco had six kills, five aces and hit .455.
The Lasers hit an impressive .423 overall as a team.
And that offense was run by sophomore setter Mia Bertolone. She finished with 33 assists, four aces, six digs and two blocks.
IVC freshman libero Audrey Fowler added a team-high 17 digs and also had three aces.
The sweep was Irvine Valley's 15th of the season.
