Coach Tom Pestolesi honored for 250th win

Irvine Valley women's volleyball coach Tom Pestolesi was honored Tuesday night before the Lasers took on San Diego Mesa in the first round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Pestolesi was presented a special game ball for winning the 250th match of his career at Irvine Valley last season against Saddleback.

Presenting the ball to Pestolesi was his wife Diane and children Kari, Danny and Tommy.

Pestolesi is in his 17th year as the head coach of the Irvine Valley women's volleyball program. He improved his record to 281-96 with the sweep of San Diego Mesa Wednesday night.

Under Pestolesi, the Lasers have won five Orange Empire Conference titles, including the last two in a row.

After going undefeated in conference again this season, Irvine Valley has won 32 conference matches in a row.

Pestolesi has also led Irvine Valley to six trips to the State Championships. IVC finished third there last year.

Pestolesi was also recently selected as the Orange Empire Conference coach of the year for the second year in a row and just today it was announced that he was the co-coach of the year in Southern California for this season.

Congratulations Pesto!
