Women's tennis team takes care of Fullerton at home

Irvine Valley's women's tennis team handled another Orange Empire Conference opponent, beating Fullerton, 7-2, at home on Thursday.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

The Lasers won five of six matches in singles and two of three in doubles.

The contest started with singles and IVC got a win right off the bat when Fullerton had to default at the sixth position.

Irvine Valley got an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory from freshman Fiorella Dreux at No. 4 and another 6-0, 6-0 win from freshman Lorna Morris at the third spot.

Irvine Valley sophomore and No. 1 player Sarah Mae Garcia fought for a tough win. She defeated Kalie Laubie in two tiebreakers, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4).

The Lasers rounded out singles play with a 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 win by freshman Lauren MacDonnell at No. 5.

In doubles, Irvine Valley earned a win at the third position with a default and then on the first court, Garcia and Morris rallied for an 8-6 victory.

Irvine Valley plays again next Tuesday, hosting Riverside at 2 o.m.
