Amber Vann named women's tennis coach at Whittier College

Amber Vann, who has guided the Irvine Valley women's tennis team the last five years, has been named the new head coach of the women's program at Whittier College.

Vann was a former player for the Lasers and assistant coach under Joan Meissenberg before taking over the program in 2012.

IVC has had two of its best seasons over the last two years under Vann.

Irvine Valley finished second in the Orange Empire Conference and made the Southern California Regional Playoffs in 2015 and 2016.

Irvine Valley had a record of 7-6 overall this past season. It was second in conference with a mark of 6-2.

The Lasers had an overall record of 10-6 in 2015 and were 8-2 in conference for second place.

Vann, who played for Irvine Valley during the 1998 and then 2004 seasons, is headed to a Whittier College program, which competes in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference of NCAA Division III.

Vann, who has also helped out with the IVC men's program over the last several seasons, received the Irvine Valley athletic department's alumni of the year award at a luncheon this past spring.
