Irvine Valley's women's tennis team remained in second place in the Orange Empire Conference with a win over Cypress on Tuesday.
The Lasers defeated the Chargers, 6-3, at home in the final match of the first round of conference play.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
IVC wrapped up the match during the singles portion of the competition.
Irvine Valley won five of six singles matches.
Sophomores Renee Walton, Ashley Athanas, Ruth Chou and Marissa Woolsey and freshman Tiana Cung each won in singles.
Walton beat Cypress No. 1 Jessica Cornea, 6-4, 6-4.
Athanas gave up just two games in her victory and Cung won, 6-0, 6-1.
Cypress was able to take two of the three doubles matches.
IVC won at No. 3 doubles with the team of Chou and sophomore Christie Yamasaki, 8-0.
The Lasers, who have played all five matches in conference at home so far, are on the road for the rest of the regular season.
The play again on Thursday at Cypress at 2 p.m.
IVC is at Fullerton and Riverside next week.
