Irvine Valley's women's tennis team got its Orange Empire Conference campaign off to an impressive start on Tuesday at home.
The Lasers defeated defending conference and state champion Fullerton, 8-1.
The win improved Irvine Valley's record to 3-2 on the season.
Irvine Valley captured all three doubles matches and then won five of six singles contests.
The teams of sophomore Renee Walton and freshman Tiana Cung (No. 1 doubles) and sophomore Ruth Chou and Christie Yamasaki (No. 3 doubles) each won, 8-0.
The team of sophomore Ashley Athanas and sophomore Marissa Woolsey pulled out a 9-7 victory at the No. 2 doubles position.
In singles, IVC got four of its five wins in straight sets.
Walton won, 7-6, 6-2, at No. 1 singles and Athanas was an easy 6-0, 6-1 winner at the No. 2 position.
Woolsey earned a three-set win at No. 5 singles for the Lasers.
She beat Brenda Gollaz, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
Irvine Valley plays again on Thursday, hosting Riverside at 2 p.m.
