Alumni Report: Arribas has quite a year for Missouri Valley

Former Irvine Valley women's soccer player Ashley Arribas had a special fall of 2022 with NAIA Missouri Valley College.

The team was ranked in the top 10 of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for most of the season and reachd the National Championship Tournament. 

Arribas, a sophomore forward, was also chosen as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year and first team all-conference.

The Vikings had a record of 10-1-1 in the Heart Conference and finished with a mark of 15-3-3 overall.

Missouri Valley made its third-straight appearance in the NAIA Soccer National Championship.

The Vikings defeated No. 24 Reinhardt of Georgia, 2-2, in the first round and played No. 16 Embry-Riddle of Arizona to a 1-1 tie in the second round, but were eliminated on pentalty kicks.

The team finished the regular season ranked No. 10 in the nation, which was the highest ranking for the program in more than 30 years.

Arribas, out of Yorba Linda High, ended the the 2022 season playing in 20 games and starting 18. She had a team-high 12 goals and six assists for 30 points.

She competed for one season at Irvine Valley in 2021.
