Women's soccer team gives up two late goals in loss at OCC

Irvine Valley's women's soccer team played right with Orange Coast for nearly 80 minutes in an Orange Empire Conference match on Tuesday afternoon on the road.

But the Pirates scored two late goals to pull out a 3-1 victory over the Lasers.

Irvine Valley is still searching for its first conference win.

IVC's record slipped to 2-3-2 overall and 0-2-1 in conference. Orange Coast improved to 2-3-2 overall and 1-2-0 in OEC play.

Orange Coast took the early lead on a goal by Tiffany Chantler in the 14th minute.

An the game stayed that way for a while.

That was until the Lasers tied things up in the 77th minute on a goal off a free kick by sophomore forward Jade Stewart.

But the tie only lasted for two minutes.

Chantler scored again in the 79th minute off a pass from Michelle Caballero to give Orange Coast the lead for good.

The Pirates added another goal to make it 3-1 in the 88th minute.

Irvine Valley freshmen goalies Heather Miller and Bryana Esparza combined for six saves. OCC keeper Cindy Suarez notched two saves.

The Lasers play again in conference on Friday, traveling to Santa Ana for a 3 p.m. contest.
