Women's soccer team picks up important win at Norco

Irvine Valley's women's soccer team kept its chances alive for chasing a top spot in the Orange Empire Conference with a 1-0 win at Norco on Friday.

The Lasers had tons of chances to score throughout the contest.

Irvine Valley finally scored the winning goal in the 65th minute when freshman midfielder Danielle Lefebvre found the back of the net.

Freshman forward Brenda Chopin earned the assist.

It was the first goal of the season for Lefebvre.

Irvine Valley's defense, keyed by sophomores Marissa Perez and Christina Anderson, limited Norco to no shots in the second half.

Sophomore goalie Herminia Verduzco recorded three saves.

The win improved Irvine Valley's record to 4-5-2 overall and 2-3-1 in conference.

Irvine Valley has a big match at Saddleback next Tuesday to finish off the first round of conference play.
