Women's golf team now tied for first after solid round in Walnut

Irvine Valley's women's golf team pulled into a tie for first place in the Orange Empire Conference after a spirited round yesterday at Royal Vista Golf Club in Walnut.

The match was hosted by Mt. San Antonio College.

IVC finished first and took four wins with a four-player team score of 327. It was the best team round of the season for the Lasers.

Saddleback was second at 338. Fullerton finished third at 355, Orange Coast came in fourth at 355 and host Mt. SAC was fifth at 364.

Irvine Valley had the top two finishers and another golfer that wasn't far behind when it came to individual scores.

Sophomore Marisa Bhanubandh earned medalist honors with a score of 74.

She was five shots better than teammate Araceli Esquivel.

Esquivel, a freshman, came in with a solid score of 79.

Sophomore Alexis McLachlan had her best round of the year, finishing at 84.

Freshman Akie Sannomiya rounded out Irvine Valley's scoring golfers, carding 90.

Irvine Valley plays again on Wednesday, traveling to a Saddleback hosted match at Arroyo Trabuco.
