Women's basketball team loses to Glendale on the road

Irvine Valley's women's basketball team, ranked No. 11 in the state, fell to No. 9 Glendale, 54-35, on Friday night on the road.

The Lasers dropped just their second game of the season and fell to 6-2 overall. Glendale went to 7-2.

Irvine Valley trailed, 26-17, at the half. Glendale pulled away in the third quarter, out-scoring IVC, 13-8.

Irvine Valley shot just 27.3 percent from the field as a team (15 of 55). The Lasers were also out-rebounded, 40-18, in the contest.

The Lasers were led by sophomore post player Makena Tomlinson with 11 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore wing Christen Ziska added eight points and sophomore guard Emily Freeman and freshman guard Haruka Mikuma each finished with six points.

The Lasers have a tough schedule coming up in the Moorpark Tournament starting on Thursday. IVC takes on No. 5 in the state Mt. San Antonio on Thursday at 1 p.m.

Irvine Valley then plays No. No. 3 in the state Delta on Friday at noon and then No. 13 Chabot on Saturday at noon.
