Three singles players and three doubles teams move on to state

Irvine Valley sophomores men's tennis players Kiichi Ishida and Devon Kashishian and freshman Alyan Ashraf each won two singles matches at the Orange Empire Conference Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Saddleback to automatically qualify for the California Community College Athletic Association State State Championships in Ojai.

And then on Friday, all three IVC doubles teams moved on to the state tournament too.

The doubles teams of Ishida and Kashishian, Ashraf and sophomore Harold Santana and the freshman duo of Sergio Jardas and Rudra Pathak advanced to the state tournament.

Kashishian and Ishida won its first match, 8-1, to move on.

The duo of Jardas of Pathak won its match, 8-6, and the team of Ashraf and Santana came out on top, 8-3, to move on to the state tournament.

The Ojai event for singles and doubles players will take place from Apr. 27-30.
