Men's tennis team ranked No. 8 in final Oracle/ITA state poll

The Irvine Valley men's tennis team was ranked No. 8 in the state in final Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association State Rankings that came out in late May.

The rankings included a top 25.

Irvine Valley finished the year with a record of 6-10 overall (four losses to four-year colleges), took third in the Orange Empire Conference with a 6-4 mark and made a strip to the So. Cal. Regional Team Playoffs.

The top 10 teams were Cerritos, Ventura, American River, Riverside City, Cypress, College of the Desert, De Anza, Irvine Valley, Foothill and Saddleback.

Several Irvine Valley players were also in the final rankings for individual singles and doubles action in the state.

Freshman Michael Bott was ranked No. 7 in singles, freshman Jacob Holiday came in at No. 52, freshman Thallys Santos was ranked No. 64.

Bott had a record of 9-5 in singles at the No. 1 spot for Irvine Valley this year. He made the quarterfinals in singles at the CCCAA State Championship in Ojai.

In doubles, Bott and Santos were ranked fourth in the state. The duo made the semifinals of the state tournament, winning four matches at the event.
